Antique Stone Pool Coping & Decks

A pool is most often the focal point of an outdoor living space. Using reclaimed stone compliments and accentuates the limitless design possibilities a pool affords: from contemporary spas and infinity pools, to asymmetrical layouts, to features such as diving stones, tanning edges and waterfalls.

RECLAIMED GRANITE COPING & DECKING

Reclaimed granite stone pool coping delivers the precise edging and consistent surface desirable in coping applications. Its durability and clean lines make it well-suited for surrounding deck area aesthetics. And the option of a bush-hammered finish for texture in wet conditions is an added plus.

RECLAIMED SANDSTONE COPING & DECKING

Reclaimed sandstone is a versatile choice for both stone pool coping and decking.  Its subtle, earthy tones integrate well with modern and rustic designs.  And its grip-providing texture and tendency to stay cooler than many materials add practical value as well.

Fequently Asked Questions

FAQS

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN STONE POOL COPING AND POOL DECKING?

Pool coping acts as the direct border (usually 1-2′) and edge of the pool, while decking is the larger area which extends out from the coping.  While not required functionally, a distinct change in material and/or pattern between coping and decking creates a striking aesthetic.

WHAT FACTORS SHOULD I CONSIDER WHEN CHOOSING STONE POOL COPING?

There are several factors to consider:

  • Will your coping border grass (where a natural edge may be preferred) or decking (which would likely require cutting the coping)?
  • What type of edge detail do you prefer facing the pool?  For instance, a natural, worn edge or a sawn edge for a more modern look.
  • How thick do you want/need the coping to be?
  • Will there be an auto-cover?  If so, this will affect how wide your coping must be?

Considering these questions will help determine the best possible coping for your pool.

IS RECLAIMED STONE SAFE AND COMFORTABLE FOR POOL DECKING?

Yes. Many reclaimed stones provide natural texture that offers good traction when wet while remaining comfortable underfoot.  And, while all natural stone can warm in direct sunlight,  lighter-toned, textured surfaces tend to stay cooler than darker material.  Shade, layout and proper installation all play a role in achieving a safe, usable stone pool deck.
