RECLAIMED BRICK FLOOR TILE

Reclaimed Brick Floor Tile

From Historic Buildings to Your Home

Stone Farm salvages full-face brick from historic mills, factories, churches and schools. These century-old buildings give us beautiful, one-of-a-kind bricks fired long before modern mass production. After reclaiming them, we saw each brick into thin slices, so they install easily as lightweight wall or floor tile.

Brick Flooring:

a Cut Above (And Below)

Our New England Mill Blend Floor tile is cut from the same bricks as our New England Mill Blend wall veneer. The difference is that we cut the top and bottom of the brick (rather than the face). Because the bricks were originally stacked upon each other and mortared in place, our reclaimed brick floor tiles reveal more of a white residue than you’ll find on our wall veneer.

AntiquE Brick Floor Tile:

New England Mill Blend

• We currently offer one truly unique reclaimed brick floor tile blend: The New England Mill Blend.

• Wider than face tiles, floor tiles work perfectly in larger spaces, as well as in almost any pattern: running bond, herringbone, basket weave, etc.

• Though mortar residue and wear give these tiles nice color variation and individuality, their inherent regional traits provide the right consistency so they still work well together in a blend.

Reclaimed Floor Tile:

Also An Option For Walls

• While we offer reclaimed wall tile in the New England Blend (cut from the face of the brick) you can also use our floor tiles in your wall design.

• Our floor tiles have the same length and thickness as the wall tiles, but they are 1″-1.25″ wider.

• Some customers prefer the greater width for specific designs, spaces or applications.

• Since the brick tops were exposed directly to mortar, they tend to show more white and grey tones.  If you desire such an aesthetic this could be another reason to choose floor tiles for a wall project.

• PLEASE NOTE–if your wall project requires corner pieces, floor tiles are NOT an option.  We only cut corner pieces at a height of 2.25″ – to match our wall tiles.

Fequently Asked Questions

FAQS

HOW DO I CALCULATE HOW MUCH RECLAIMED BRICK FLOOR TILE TO ORDER?
  • Measure the width and height of all areas to be covered.
  • Multiply your width by your height to determine the total square footage of the surface area.
  • We recommend adding 10-15% for a running bond pattern, and 15-20% for intricate patterns such as herringbone.
  • Understanding there are variations in tone and imperfections in reclaimed material, if  you’re particular about the look of the tiles you want to use, we strongly recommend you increase the percentage of waste you order.
  • Good to Know: We calculate our square footages assuming a mortar joint of 3/8”. If you‘re planning tighter, narrow joints, you should factor that into your order.
WHAT IS THE BEST SURFACE TO USE FOR INSTALLING RECLAIMED BRICK FLOOR TILE?
  • The best surface for installing brick tiles is a cement board such as Hardiebacker or Wonderboard. It’s waterproof, durable and provides a superior surface for adhesion.
  • Understanding the conditions specific to your space (floor level, propensity for flooding, etc.) will allow you to reduce the probability of costly issues down the road.
WHAT'S THE BEST WAY TO CLEAN A RECLAIMED BRICK TILE FLOOR?
  • Brick can be easily cleaned by simply sweeping with a broom or vacuuming with a brush attachment. For deep cleaning, mopping or scrubbing with a solution of vinegar and water will also freshen up the material. Pour 1 cup of white vinegar into a bucket and fill the rest with water. Scrub with stiff bristle brush and a pole attachment. Wipe clean with bath towels.
